Cytopathology is the study of disease changes within individual cells or cell types. The cells can be scraped (e.g. pap smear), exfoliated or aspirated  from any body site. 

Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) biopsy involves aspiration of cells with or without image guidance to obtain a rapid and cost effective diagnosis.
